This didn’t work for me. I was able to create the folder and move the downloaded text notification i wanted into there, but then when i go to messages > settings> select ringtone, it still only gives me the preloaded options.

Help!

Thanks, Matt

On the samsung fascinate, notification ringtones have to be saved under my files; media; audio; notifications. To move a file here, just long hold until it gives you the option to move, rename, etc. Once the file has been moved to this folder, go to settings; sound & display; notification ringtones & you will see it has been added to the default list :)

I have done the folder creation and still only come up with factory preset tones for the text notification. Is the SD card formatted when you get the phone and is /sdcard/ the home directory when you create the notifications folder?

For those of you who are still having problems, you are probably missing a step. The creation of the folder and putting the file in the folder is only one step. Make sure you follow the step about going to “Messaging” and press the “Settings” button (which is the furthest left button next to the Home button on the bottom of the phone under the word Samsung). There is a “Notifications” box – make sure there is a green check mark there, if not click it to place a mark there. Then under that is the select ringtone.

Awesome, all. Settings under Messaging worked for me as well. Click on Notifications section, and it also gives you an option to retrieve any ringtone apps you may have downloaded. I use Zedge app. Free and current app for ringtones and wallpapers.

This worked great! Now, is there a way to assign ringtones to text messages from each contact? I have different ringtones for different contacts and want to know if there is a way I can do the same thing for their text messages instead of just the ringtone I set for messages.

create a folder named “notifications” on the root of the SD card, and put your own ringtone into that folder, then you are able to assign it for incoming text tone on your Samsung Admire
